While in France, Thomas Jefferson had his agent purchase a maccarone machine in Italy. Gaye Wilson of Montecello related the travels of the machine as it followed Jefferson back to his home. Her talk "Plantation Fare & Choice Foods: Provisioning the Table at Montecello," was part of the March 24, 2006 Fairfax Symposium "Before You Can Cook: Aquiring Foodstuffs & Kitchenware in Early America." The first picture of a pasta machine is by Thomas Jefferson. The other is an industrial sized one from 'The Grocer's Encyclopedia,' 1911.
