Holiday Fare Recipes - April Fools Day: Gooseberry and other fools

Fools...the food, not people...are a cream or custard dish. Various fruits may be used including rhubarb or strawberries. In old cookbooks the recipes are found in the desert, creams [after syllabub], puddings and even in the Lent section. Early names were Westminster Fool, Norfolk Fool and Norfolk Whitepot.
